Grupo Bimbo will donate more than 6.8 million slices of bread

Through the seventh edition of Bimbo Global RaceGrupo Bimbo, the largest baking company in the world, committed to donate 20 slices of bread for each person registeredin order to advance towards “Zero Hunger”, one of the UN sustainable development goals.

Bimbo Global Race is a movement that this year brought together more than 341,000 runners globally in a hybrid way, thanks to which will manage to donate more than 6.8 million slices of bread to food banks.

The race brought together the efforts of participants from 15 cities in 10 countries, in races of 10, 5, and a 3-kilometer walk in its face-to-face format; while the virtual modality, runners from more than 100 nations registered.

Among the countries with the most face-to-face and virtual participants in the Bimbo Global Race stand out: China, with more than 162,000; Mexico, with more than 28,000, Peru, with more than 22,000; India, with more than 20,000, and Spain, with more than 18,000. In addition, thanks to its digital format, the race registered runners from countries such as Greenland, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.

In Mexico, the race was held in person – on September 25 – in Monterrey, Puebla, Guadalajara and Mexico City, where the absolute winners of the 10 km in the women’s and men’s branches were Yuliana Navarro Rosales and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Morales, who will be awarded along with a companion, with a trip to participate in the Bimbo Global Race next year in Los Angeles, California.

In his message, Alberto Levy, Grupo Bimbo’s global marketing director, thanked the participants “for their desire to help the communities; Thanks to this, we exceeded the goal we set for this edition. This result continues to reinforce the purpose we have at Grupo Bimbo to nurture a better world through deeds and not just words.”

In addition, he highlighted that in 6 years, Grupo Bimbo has donated more than 23.7 million slices of bread Thanks to the participation of the people.
