During a 31-year career as a U.S. Marine, Vincent Santiago served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, worked as a drill instructor, and held a position with a federal agency promoting cooperation with allies.
Despite his extensive service, Santiago, a U.S. citizen, is unable to vote for president. This is a consequence of living in Guam, a U.S. territory with limited say in its governance from Washington. He advocates for the island to become the 51st U.S. state.
