Guanajuato and its romantic destinations, ideal for celebrating a wedding

Wedding tourism returns with force to the state of Guanajuato, this year through the Secretary of Tourism of the entity and the International Association of Destination Wedding Professionals (IADW) are promoting the destinations, the infrastructure and the products that are offered in the different locations in the state.

It should be noted that Guanajuato seeks to offer the perfect environment for any stage of romance, its haciendas, restaurants and gardens are the ideal settings for marriage ceremonies from a traditional one to an ancestral ritual is possible.

In interview for The EconomistKitzia Morales Torres, president and founder of the International Association of Destination Wedding Professionals (IADW), indicated that wedding tourism is generating a significant economic benefit for destinations in the state.

“In the last 10 years, weddings have changed, they went from being focused solely on brides, now they are also looking to enlarge the guests,” he said.

“70% of couples want their wedding to be sustainable in one way or another and they are demanding it with their suppliers, and they are also dividing their budget into various more personal experiences.”

Within the state there are various romantic scenarios where the main romantic tourist destinations are concentrated: Con el corazón en la piel (in León), Engayment (in San Miguel de Allende), Olé Salvatierra (in the Magical Town of Salvatierra) and Magia de Wells (in Mineral Wells).

San Miguel de Allende

It is traditionally the favorite place for the newlyweds, and in recent years it has established itself as an engagement destination. Its restaurants and baroque architecture attract local and international tourists for a pre-wedding and post-wedding setting.

Also in the historic center is the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, neo-Gothic in style, whose spectacular pink towers rise above the main square, El Jardín. The alleys are typical in the town.

Mineral Wells

The Magic Town of Mineral de Pozos in Guanajuato, is a mystical place that invites tranquility. Called by many as a ghost town, the vestiges of this place will make you transport yourself to another era and experience unique moments with it.

Among the temples that stand out is the Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Luz, a majestic parish temple located in the heart of Salvatierra, ideal for framing love with its architecture and imposing domes.
