Haaland complains about pressure, and Mbappe may renew with Paris Saint-Germain | Football

Norwegian top scorer Erling Haaland admitted that he was under pressure from Borussia Dortmund to decide his future, at a time when French reports spoke of a new offer from Paris Saint-Germain that could convince Kylian Mbappe to renew.

“I chose not to speak in the last 6 months out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club is starting to pressure me to make a decision,” said Haaland, who scored twice in Dortmund’s 5-1 win over Freiburg in the German league on Friday.

“All I want to do is play football. But they are putting pressure on me about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon. That’s what they (Dortmund) want. It means things will happen now,” he told Norwegian broadcaster Viaplay.

Haaland, whose contract with the German club continues until 2024, added that he prefers to focus on football instead of distracting him by talking about his future before playing many matches with Dortmund, who are 3 points behind Bayern Munich, the league leader.

“We are in the middle of a difficult period with a lot of matches,” Haaland said. “I said from the start that I wanted to focus on football, because that makes me at my best. But I can’t do that now.”

Halland is considered a target for a number of major clubs in the world, led by Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with Manchester City, and previous reports confirmed that the Norwegian striker wanted to move to the Spanish League.

On the other hand, French media reported reports confirming the continuation of negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and young star Kylian Mbappe, with the end of the player’s contract approaching at the end of the current season.

Those sources indicated that the French club offered to renew Mbappe for a short period, with an increase in the annual salary to be the highest paid player in the team.

Mbappe refuses to talk about his future now, and confirmed that he is focused on completing the season with Paris Saint-Germain before making a decision at the end of the season.

Mbappe was linked to a move to Real Madrid, and newspapers close to the royal club repeated talk of a preliminary agreement with the player to move to Madrid from next season.
