Veteran telenovela actor Alejandro Landero, known for his role in the 1988 hit Rosa Salvaje, has been found homeless in Mexico City.
According to a social media account run by local residents, Landero is living on a park bench in the Condesa neighborhood with his belongings, a dog, and three cats he has adopted. The post stated the actor is seeking temporary shelter for one month but is unwilling to abandon his animals. He is currently located on Mazatlán street, between Juan de la Barrera and Agustín Melgar.
Landero was a prominent figure in 1980s television, with roles in popular telenovelas such as Pasión y Poder (1988), Monte Calvario (1986), Blanca Vidal (1982), and Un Rostro en mi pasado (1989).
The actor had previously vanished from the public eye, leading to rumors of his death in 2020. The reasons for his current circumstances remain unclear.
Landero’s situation is reminiscent of the case of fellow actress Renata Flores, who also starred in Rosa Salvaje and was found living in her car in 2020. After three years of homelessness, Flores was located by the National Actors’ Association (ANDA) and offered a place at La Casa del Actor, a retirement home for performers.
However, Flores was initially hesitant to accept the offer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, actor David Rencoret explained that she felt safer in her temporary shelter and wished to postpone the move, partly out of concern for her pets, one of which required surgery.
