This came in a statement by a member of the movement’s political bureau, Izzat al-Rishq, commenting on a press conference held by Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari, in which he claimed that they had found weapons and military equipment inside the Shifa complex.
Al-Rishq said, “We warned and said that the occupation would stage a play, like the one it claimed at Rantisi Hospital, which was proven to be false, and today it presents its trivial story and scandalous allegations.”
He added, “About 20 hours after the storming of the complex, we searched for the control rooms and the prisoners. The occupation came out to the world with a shameful, open play, bringing some weapons, clothes, and tools, and placing them in the hospital in a scandalous manner, and telling lies and a fabricated story, which no one would believe.”
Al-Rishq pointed out that they “repeatedly called for a committee from the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the Red Cross to come to confirm for themselves the lies of the occupation,” according to the statement.
Israeli Army Radio announced on Wednesday that there were “no indications” of the presence of Israeli prisoners in Al-Shifa Hospital, even though the army claimed for weeks that there were Israeli prisoners there.
For days, Al-Shifa Hospital and its surroundings, as well as other hospitals in the Gaza Strip, have been subjected to Israeli bombing and siege, claiming that “there is a headquarters for Palestinian militants,” which is repeatedly denied by Hamas and Palestinian officials in the Gaza Strip.
