Haniyeh affirmed “the firm will to end the division and achieve reconciliation and build the Palestinian political system on foundations of pluralism and partnership for our people at home and abroad, and to strengthen our joint action in confronting the occupation and its policies.”
He added that the “Hamas” movement “resolved to move forward and not turn back, by handling all the details in a positive spirit,” expressing his thanks “to the brothers in Egypt for embracing this meeting.”
It is noteworthy that the “Islamic Jihad” movement announced that it would not participate in the upcoming Palestinian elections, considering that they are “elections covered by the Oslo Accord, which wasted the rights and constants of the Palestinian people.”
