A Sydney woman on trial for murder after her boyfriend struck and killed an intruder with a samurai sword has no case to answer, a judge has ruled.
The jury in the NSW Supreme Court trial of Hannah Quinn and Blake Davis was on Thursday ordered to return a verdict of not guilty to Quinn’s charge of murder.
Both had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Jett McKee who stormed into Davis’s Sydney home in August 2018 before running from the premises and being hit by Davis.

‘You will remember at beginning of the trial I said that you 12 are the judges of the fact and I am the judge of the law,’ Justice Natalie Adams said.
‘I am satisfied as a matter of law that there is no case of murder against her for you to consider.’
The jury foreman then returned a not guilty verdict.
Quinn is still facing a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder, to which she has also pleaded not guilty.
The trial has heard the would-be robber McKee was chased from the Forest Lodge home by Quinn.
The Crown alleges Quinn pulled McKee to his knees before Davis – wearing only his boxer shorts – ran over and struck McKee with the samurai sword.
Quinn allegedly shouted ‘what the f*** have you done?’ after Davis delivered the fatal blow.
The sword was a gift from Davis’ older brother and had been on display in his home, the trial was told on Thursday.

The jury has heard the couple stayed at hotels over the weekend before a solicitor arranged for them to go to a police station on Monday, August 13.
Davis’ barrister, Margaret Cunneen SC, has argued he acted in defence of Ms Quinn.
But the Crown alleges Mr McKee was fleeing the residence and some 100 metres down the street before Quinn pulled him to the ground and Davis struck his head with the sword.
Prosecutor Chris Taylor says there was no justification for the 30-year-old’s slaying ‘as unwanted … as that home invasion and robbery must have been’.
The trial continues.
