Aides carried the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris Responsibility for her defeat to the Republican candidate Donald Trump For outgoing President Joe Biden.
Politico quoted Harris aides as saying, “Biden should have withdrawn early, allowing us to hold a primary that Harris would win.”
Aides said Harris ran the best campaign, but Biden was the only reason Harris and the Democrats were defeated.
They added, “The momentum that Harris built was not achieved as she never succeeded in sufficiently burying the ghost of Biden, which severely hampered her ability to convince voters of the idea that her candidacy is the one that will turn the page.”
In an article, Politico also quoted some of the next generation leaders in the Democratic Party as saying, “There is a need for a deep analysis of the party’s failure to stop the expansion of support for Trump.”
In this context, NBC quoted a Trump campaign spokeswoman as saying that he had not yet received any call from Harris or Biden.
NBC then returned to report from a White House official that President Biden plans to call Trump today to acknowledge the Democrats’ loss.
The official added that Biden will invite Trump to the White House and attend his inauguration.
Earlier, several television networks announced Trump’s victory with 277 votes compared to 224 for his Democratic rival, Harris.
