US Vice President Kamala Harris and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed their countries ’opposition to the International Criminal Court’s decision to open an investigation into possible war crimes on the Palestinian territories.
These statements came a day after the criminal court prosecutor said that her office would formally investigate war crimes committed in the Palestinian territories.
On the other hand, the White House indicated in a statement following the phone call between Harris and Netanyahu on Thursday, that “the vice president affirmed the firm commitment of the United States to the security of Israel,” and the administration of President Joe Biden adhered to the partnership with Israel.

Harris expressed her “strong support” for the recent normalization agreements that Israel signed with Arab countries, and stressed “the importance of activating peace, security and prosperity for Israelis and Palestinians alike.”
Harris and Netanyahu agreed on “the importance of continuing close cooperation and partnership on security issues in the region, including Iran’s nuclear program and the dangerous behavior of its regime in the region.”
Harris and Netanyahu also discussed cooperation between the two countries in their efforts to deter the Coronavirus epidemic.
