Jordan Poole started the preseason like a shot. In the first game, against the Portland Trail Blazers, he was the best of the Warriors to go up to 30 points, signing an excellent 7 of 13 in triples in 22 minutes. After the meeting, Steve Kerr was questioned about his pupil and the role he will play in the 2021-22 campaign. The head coach Californians do not hide their enthusiasm.
«This is how he is seen training. There are no doubts with him. He’s reaching the basket and playing one with incredible confidence. You have earned that trust. He is one of our best players. I think what we have to determine is how he stays in the defensive scheme playing with different teammates on the court. But if you have a boy as explosive as he is, you have to throw him on the court, “he tells Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area.
The Golden State do not think they have an All-Star in their hands, but they do have a player who can progress a lot and become a decisive element, either starting as a starter or from the bench.
Last season Poole was able to average 12 points on 35.1% from 3s in just 19.4 minutes per night; something he did as a starter in only 7 of the 51 games played. Heading into the season that begins in less than two weeks, Kerr has already announced that his role may vary with the goal of spending more time on the court with Stephen Curry.
