Real Salt Lake announced its signing of the youngest player in MLS history on a two-year contract.
Real Salt Lake said, in an official statement published on its website, yesterday, Friday, that he signed striker Axel Key, from the club’s academy, at the age of only 14 years and 15 days, as the youngest player ever to sign with a team in the NBA.
The club explained that Kee surpassed the record previously set by Freddy Addo for 18 years, by 153 days.

At the beginning of the current season, Key became the second youngest player in the history of football to participate in an official match at the professional level, after the Bolivian junior Baldivieso.
And now he is the youngest professional player with a professional contract with the first team in the world.
Elliot Vale, Real Salt Lake’s general manager, spoke about the club’s signing of the player, saying, “Over the past year, Axel has proven that he is one of the best potential strikers in the country, and his attacking tendency in front of goal goes well beyond his years. He becomes a goal-scoring force in our league in the coming years.”
