A year later, Adongo, a politician and member of parliament, admitted that he was wrong about Maguire and that he admired his recent performance with his team in the English Premier League.
Adongo said, “Today, Maguire’s level is different. He has become a pivotal player for Manchester United and is scoring goals.”
“I now apologize…Today, Maguire has turned the corner and is a transformational footballer”
Months after Isaac Adongo ridiculed the #MUFC defender in the Ghanaian parliament, the MP has praised him for turning around his form 🇬🇭

The Member of Parliament mocked the England international player when he attacked the Deputy Speaker of Parliament for Economic Affairs at the time, Mahamudu Bawumia.
Addressing Bawumia, he said, “If you are a football fan…there is a person like you in England, called Harry Maguire, who plays for Manchester United. He is a defender, and he throws his body everywhere as if he is the best defender in the world.”
He added, “Manchester United signed him for a record deal amounting to 80 million euros. It made him the most expensive defender in the world, but he provided decisive passes to the opponents.”
He continued: “In this country we have the ‘Maguire of the economy’. Why did we give this Maguire the opportunity to be at the heart of our defence? He scores against us.”
The English defender was subjected to much criticism last season due to his inconsistent performance, but he returned and revived his career under the leadership of Dutch coach Eric ten Hag.
Maguire (30 years old) succeeded in regaining his defensive solidity in his team’s last matches, contributing after victories for the “Red Devils” team.
