The Miami Heat continue to move towards shaping their squad before training camp. For this purpose they have acquired the services of Micah Potter, former of Wisconsin, Javonte Smart, former of LSU, and Dru Smith, of Missouri. All three are undrafted players and come straight from the varsity circuit to sign a ten-day exhibition contract. Barry Jackson, journalist from the Miami Herald, has been the first to give birth to the news. The trio were already part of those chosen by the Florida franchise to play the last Summer League in Las Vegas.
Potter played six games as a center averaging 7.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. For his part, Smart was the base, registering 5.5 points and 2.2 assists; while Smith did the same, contributing 8 points and 2.5 assists. As Heat players in their own right, they have the opportunity to earn their presence on the final roster this preseason. If they do not succeed in this endeavor, their destination will be the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s affiliate of the G-League.
