Centre Bam Adebayo will miss Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers with a back contusion, the team announced shortly before tipoff.
Adebayo had previously been listed as questionable after taking a hard fall on Saturday against the Portland Trail Blazers. He warmed up at Intuit Dome but was then ruled out and is day to day.
It will mark the first missed game of the season for the 27-year-old Olympic gold medallist. In 37 contests to date, Adebayo has averaged 16.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
He joins Jimmy Butler, who is serving a seven-game suspension by the team following a trade request, on the sidelines.
Miami, which at 20-17 sits seventh in the Eastern Conference, returns to action Wednesday for a visit to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Clippers, meanwhile, will welcome Kawhi Leonard back into the fold after he left the team to be with family that was forced to evacuate their homes amid the L.A. wildfires.
Head coach Ty Lue said Leonard would play on a minutes restriction.
