The Hebrew website Walla quoted Israeli security officials as saying that the naval forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were responsible for the attack on the Israeli ship in the Gulf of Oman two days ago.
The website added, quoting the officials as saying that the Revolutionary Guards seek revenge for the assassination of the Quds Force commander in the Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani and the nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, indicating that Iran is planning additional attacks.
A report published by the site stated, “The Israeli security establishment recently obtained messages stating that tension accumulated in the Iranian security units after the assassination of Soleimani and Fakhrizadeh.
The report indicated that there were attempts to carry out attacks, some of which were blocked by the Israeli Mossad.
An official said to the Hebrew site, that the targeting of the ship “Helios Re” owned by an Israeli businessman did not surprise officials in the Israeli security establishment.
He explained, “Whoever targeted the Israeli-owned ship did not intend to sink it, but sent a signal to Israel about Tehran’s future intentions. This is the work of specialists.”
According to Israeli security estimates, the commander of the “Quds Force”, Ismail Qani, is seeking revenge in line with the tension and anger accumulated in the units within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
For its part, the Hebrew “Channel 12” reported that senior Israeli officials said that Tel Aviv was considering an appropriate response to the targeting of Iran against the Israeli ship in the Gulf of Oman.
According to the Hebrew Channel 12, the officials emphasized that the incident would not go unnoticed and could not be tolerated.
