Héctor Bonilla dies at the age of 83; “He was a great actor,” says López Obrador

Héctor Bonilla, actor, playwright and prominent representative of Mexican cinema, died at the age of 83 this Friday, confirmed the Ministry of Culture.

“The Ministry of Culture deeply regrets the death of actor Héctor Bonilla, a graduate of the INBAL School of Theater Art and considered one of the best actors in Mexico. He developed in theater, television and cinema, where he participated in films such as Red Dawn “, indicated the agency.

Héctor Bonilla was born in 1939 in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood of Mexico City, and studied acting at the Escuela de Arte Teatral del Centro Cultural del Bosque.

The actor’s son, Fernando Bonilla, also confirmed the actor’s death.

“We hereby inform that today, November 25, 2022, after four years of fighting cancer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, partner and example of life died: Héctor Bonilla.”

“He died at home, in peace, without pain and surrounded by his closest circle, who accompanied him until the end,” added Fernando Bonilla’s letter.

Shortly after, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador mourned the death of the actor. Héctor Bonilla had been one of the first actors to support Andrés Manuel López Obrador in the 2006 presidential campaign.

“I regret the death of Héctor Bonilla, a great actor, honest and always with firm convictions. I hug Sofia, her children, her family and friends, ”said the Mexican president.
