A father has been hailed a hero after he jumped off a bridge and walked across razor-sharp oyster beds to save a three-year-old girl from drowning.
Father-of-two Scott Windon was enjoying a day out with his family at Birchgrove, in Sydney’s inner-west, on January 23 when toddler Mia Bullimore tumbled off a three metre ledge into water below.
Without hesitation, Mr Windon lowered himself onto the nearby rocks littered with sharp rock oysters at Mort Bay Park to save the unknown toddler.
The ‘hero dad’ managed to scoop up the Mia before she completely submerged under the water.

Mr Windon placed the youngster under his left arm and walked over more rock-oysters, before swimming 70 metres to the nearest exit point.
The father-of-two handed the little girl into the waiting arms of her relieved parents, Ian and Phoebe Bullimore.
Mia only sustained a minor bump from the ordeal thanks to Mr Windon’s bravery – but it was a different story for the hero of the hour.
The account manager at IT firm Red Education sustained three deep cuts to both his feet, cuts as well as lacerations to his lower legs, knees, thighs and the palm of both hands.
An ambulance was called and Mr Windon was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
He underwent surgery to clean his wounds, with nurses applying dozens of stitches to the soles of both his feet.
Mr Windon was praised for his selfless actions by local police.
‘This incident could have easily led to yet another tragic drowning death of a child, if it were not for the quick thinking, selfless, heroic actions of Mr Scott Windon,’ a police statement read.
‘His actions have not only saved little Mia’s life but has spared the horror and heartache for her family, her friends, and numerous first responders that would have had to attend to the tragic drowning of a little child.’
