Lebanese Hezbollah said that it shot down an Israeli drone with a surface-to-air missile in southern Lebanon, which is the first time that the party has announced the implementation of such an operation, amid an escalation of clashes on the Lebanese border.
The party added that the drone was hit near the Khiam area, about 5 kilometers from the border with Israel, and was seen falling into Israeli territory.
Two security sources in Lebanon said that this is the first time that Hezbollah has announced the downing of an Israeli drone.
The Israeli army, which claimed responsibility for launching more attacks on what it described as Hezbollah targets, did not comment on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said that one of its members was injured after shells fell on its base near the village of Houla on the Lebanese-Israeli border on Saturday.
