During the 2020-2021 school period, the enrollment of the national education system at the higher level had a slight decline with respect to the 2019-2020 period, mainly driven by the female sector, which was where the drop was registered, currently the total is located at 4,030 millions.
According to the Secretary of Public Education (SEP), the higher education schools of the school system had growth during this school year, however the level of the 2014-2015 period has not yet recovered, where 7,073 institutions were reported, currently there are registered 5,794.

At the National Autonomous University of Mexico, its student population continues to rise, at the end of 2020, 360,883 students were registered at its different levels. Likewise, the number of courses taught has continued to grow.
