(CNN) — Hilary Duff feels comfortable in her skin.
The “How I Met Your Father” actress appears on the May/June cover of Women’s Health magazine, where she says she’s left behind unrealistic ideals about her body and feels “at peace” now when she thinks about her appearance .
“I’m proud of my body,” says Duff, adding, “I’m at a point where I’m at peace with the changes my body has gone through.”
She continues, “I think at 34 I’ve gained a lot of respect for my body. It’s taken me everywhere I’ve ever had to go. It’s helped me create a beautiful family. I feel like the older I get, the more I have confidence in myself. And my body has come in all different shapes and sizes and I’m really fascinated just by, first, being a woman, and second, all the changes your body can go through throughout your life.”
Duff says that therapy also helped her accept herself.
“I feel lucky in terms of mental health as I haven’t had any big hurdles to overcome, but like everyone else, I have my issues, my insecurities and pain,” she said. “Therapy is a big help. I try to Zoom in with my therapist at least twice a month, if not more, if I need to. But, I think just having the right people around you, who can really listen to you when you need them, and [tomar] space for you”.
In fact, therapy is the most important part, according to Duff.
“We strive to get in shape and look our best. We get facials and Botox, we do our hair and color it, we get brow lifts and lash lifts and all that. But I want to work on what’s inside.” “That’s the most important part of the system,” he explained.
