House Republicans go for Hunter Biden

Washington. The United States Congress began a new legislature on Tuesday after the midterm elections, with the House of Representatives now in the hands of the Republicans and the Senate still controlled by the Democrats.

Despite their slim majorities, the 2021-23 Congress under Democratic rule was one of the most productive in modern history, with largely bipartisan legislation on various issues.

One target is likely to be President Joe Biden himself, even with impeachment.

However, the top priority declared by the House Oversight Committee will be to intensify scrutiny of the Democratic president’s son, Hunter Biden, already under investigation by the FBI for his business practices.

Whitout deal

It has not happened for 100 years: the new House of Representatives adjourned this Tuesday without being able to elect its president due to tensions between Republicans.

Republican Kevin McCarthy, the favorite to replace Democrat Nancy Pelosi, failed to calm a revolt by a group of supporters of former President Donald Trump, who consider him too moderate.

Today there will be a new attempt to reach an agreement.
