She said Houthi group The Yemeni government announced on Wednesday that it had targeted the Conchip Uno ship with a number of ballistic missiles in the Red Sea, in addition to two American destroyers while they were heading north of that vital shipping lane.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said that the group's naval forces carried out three joint military operations. The first targeted the US destroyer Cole in the Gulf of Aden (southern Yemen) with a number of drones, and the operation successfully achieved its goal. As for the second operation, it targeted the US destroyer Laboon with a number of ballistic missiles.
Saree explained that the targeting of the two American destroyers came while they were crossing the Yemeni Armed Forces' area of operations towards the northern Red Sea, within the framework of “providing American military protection to the Israeli enemy.”
Saree stated that the naval forces also targeted the ship Conchip Uno in the Red Sea with a number of ballistic missiles and drones, which led to its direct hit.
He pointed out that the ship was targeted as a result of the company that owns it violating the group's decision to ban entry to the ports of occupied Palestine.
Before that, the United States and Britain launched two raids on Taiz Governorate, southwest of Yemen.
Al-Masirah TV, the group's mouthpiece, reported in a breaking news report via Telegram that “an American-British aggression targeted Taiz Governorate with two raids.”
The channel did not mention details about the results of this targeting.
The Houthis have been launching attacks on international shipping near Yemen since last November in solidarity with the Palestinians in the war waged by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip.
In contrast, Washington and London began launching air strikes and missile attacks on Houthi sites in Yemen at the beginning of this year, which the group responded to by announcing that it now considers all American and British ships to be military targets, and expanding its attacks to ships passing through the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean or any place its weapons can reach.
