Ansar Allah Houthi spokesman, Muhammad Abdel Salam, said that Yemen’s naval operations aim to support the Palestinian people in confronting the aggression and siege on GazaIt is neither a show of force nor a challenge to anyone, and whoever seeks to expand the conflict must bear the consequences of his actions.
He added that the American-formed coalition is to protect Israel and militarize the sea without any justification, and will not stop Yemen from continuing its legitimate operations in support of Gaza.
He added that America allowed itself to support Israel by forming an alliance and without an alliance, as the peoples of the region have full legitimacy to support the Palestinian people, and Yemen has taken it upon itself to stand by the Palestinian right and the great injustice of Gaza.
The spokesman said that his group targets ships heading to Israel only, while the rest of the ships will not be harmed. He also praised the companies that announced the suspension of navigation to Israeli ports.
The spokesman stressed the position of the Houthi group on the necessity of full aid entry into the Gaza Strip, and to put pressure on Israel to stop its aggression and break the siege. He stressed that Yemeni operations will continue at an escalating pace if aid is not brought into the Strip.
Multinational forces
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the formation of multinational international forces with the aim of deterring Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and their threat to maritime trade flights.
The American coalition aims to jointly confront security challenges in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, with the aim of ensuring freedom of navigation for all countries and enhancing regional security and prosperity, according to Austin.
The mission will include forces from 10 countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, Spain, and Bahrain, in addition to the United States.
The Houthi group targets ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel as they pass through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to an ongoing war since October 7, 2023.
