Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – There is no doubt that at the start of a new decade, digital, mobile and social media have become an indispensable part of people’s daily lives around the world.
A new report from WeR Social and HotSuite on global digital for 2020 shows that more than 4.5 billion people around the world currently use the Internet, while the number of social media users exceeds 3.8 billion.
The report also shows that about 60% of the world’s population is already connected to the Internet, while the latest trends indicate that more than half of the world’s total population will use social media by the middle of this year.
In contrast, 40% of the world’s population remains “offline”, while the most recent data indicates that women are more likely to be “offline” than men.
The report highlights the digital penetration of countries around the world, including the Middle East, where the percentage of Internet users reached about 70% at 182.1 million users, in contrast, the number of social media users in the region reached about 125.4 million people, or 48% of the population. .
From the Arab region, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain came to the fore in the world and the Middle East on the list of countries with the highest penetration and access to the Internet.
