Under the heading above, Viktor Baranets wrote in Komsomolskaya Pravda about the benefits Washington could derive from capturing the Russian combat vehicle.
The article reads: The British “Times” recently reported that the Americans had captured a Russian “Pantsir S-1” missile vehicle, in Libya. And they say it happened, in the summer of last year. Yet the United States remains silent. It did not issue any official statement, in this regard. Apparently, the Pentagon has decided, for some reason, that it is best for now to remain silent and urge the British to pass on this exciting news. This raises a host of questions:
How it arrived Pantsiri-1SE (The version for export) to Libya?
The military expert, Dmitry Litovkin, replied:
It just happened. First, the United Arab Emirates bought it from Russia. Then they sold it (or donated it) to the Libyan National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar (this military commander is supported by the Emirati authorities).
Is there a risk of leaking the “Pantsir” secrets that fell into the hands of the Americans?
Pantsir, which is used in Russia, differs from the export version. It is clear that the second one has fallen into the hands of the Americans. The United States knows without this basic information about “Pantsir”, because this weapon is displayed in many international exhibitions, and it is exported. The secret is in the control algorithm of this combat complex. That is, in the work of the radar, the mechanism of processing and receiving information, and the selection of the target. There will be a big problem with that. It is not possible to extract this information from a “dead” vehicle.
To which countries other than the UAE has Moscow sold Pantsir?
Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Oman, Syria, Ethiopia, Serbia, Equatorial Guinea and Brazil. Thus, the American intelligence services had the opportunity to study this technology, which has been in the possession of the armies of some of America’s partners, for a long time. I do not think that the Libyan “Pantsir” in this case promises the Americans exciting technological discoveries.
