A recent survey entitled “Career Aspirations in the Middle East and North Africa” was conducted to understand the aspirations of professionals and the challenges they face. The report revealed that 73% of professionals in Saudi Arabia have positive expectations towards the coming year, while only 10% expressed negative expectations, and the rest of the respondents were neutral about this.
What are the aspirations of people at a professional level?
More than two-thirds of respondents in Saudi Arabia (69%) believe they are qualified to fill higher job positions, while 57% said they would be willing to move to another department or field to advance their career. On the other hand, 41% of respondents stated that they would be willing to move into a completely different career sector to achieve their goals.
Regarding the career aspirations of people in Saudi Arabia, 59% indicated that they had set several career goals for themselves, including finding a new job (57%), learning new skills (47%), and getting a higher salary (42%).
Do professionals feel motivated at work?
With regard to motivation levels, more than half of the respondents (56%) in Saudi Arabia reported feeling motivated at work, while only 19% reported that the workplace does not motivate them at all, while the rest of the respondents were neutral. When asked about the factors that motivate them in the workplace, about half (49%) choose a good salary, followed by availability of opportunities to express their creativity (45%) and a better balance between professional and personal life (38%).
The availability of mentors and mentors is linked to the enhancement of motivational factors at work, which was clearly reflected in the results, with more than 43% of respondents reporting that they either have a mentor or a person to follow in their careers.
What are the elements of an ideal job?
Almost two-thirds of respondents in Saudi Arabia (65%) agreed that salary and benefits are the most important features of an ideal job, along with job security (44%) and career growth opportunities (37%).
The things that drive professionals to look for work in the Kingdom are the desire for continuous learning and gaining experience (according to 65% of respondents), followed by the desire to make money (56%) and improve their communities (52%).
Interestingly, survey respondents would prefer working for a company (55%) than being self-employed (23%).
What are the aspirations of professionals on a personal level?
The most important personal goals of professionals in 2021 were to save more money (60%), buy real estate (45%), exercise regularly (29%), spend more time with family (28%), and travel (28%). %).
