Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The World Bank Group has launched the Women, Business and Law Report for 2021, which measures the performance of world economies by highlighting laws and regulations that affect women’s economic opportunities in 190 countries around the world.
This year’s report, which is the seventh edition of the World Bank, relies on 8 indicators related to women’s interactions with the law during their working lives in each country, which are mobility, workplace, wages, marriage, childbearing, entrepreneurship, assets and pensions.
Despite the great progress that has been made over the past 50 years, the world has not yet achieved gender equality, especially with the outbreak of the Corona pandemic this year, which has placed women’s social and economic capabilities at unprecedented risk.
The unprecedented challenges caused by the Corona pandemic revealed the extent of the deepening of the problem of gender inequality around the world, especially since women were the most affected by this crisis after the layoffs that affected them in particular, as well as forming the majority of health, social and care workers. In addition, today women still earn less than men for the same work, and they are also at greater risk of experiencing violence in their homes.
