How to transform your leather couch in SECONDS with a $49 Bunnings buy – leaving it looking brand new
- Mum reveals how she got rid of years of built-up grime from her leather lounge
- The grimy yellow couch went from being grey and drab to looking like new
- She used a car buffer and $20 worth of products instead of replacing the couch
A busy mum has revealed how she got rid of over 20 years of built-up grime from her leather couch – and got great results in seconds.
The woman bought an electric car polisher from Bunnings Warehouse in the hope it would take the hard work out of the job – and she was pleasantly surprised.
She also bought $20 worth of cleaning products to get the job done, but will be able to use them all again.
She started with the Glitz four-in-one leather cleaner, using the buffer to work it into the mustard-coloured leather.

She then repeated the process with the Glitz leather conditioner – once again working it into the leather with her new electric buffer.
And the results speak volumes – her only regret is not doing full before and after pictures.
Instead she had two cushions side by side.
On the left the tired-looking, graying cushion with over two decades of grime build up.
On the right a bright, shiny leather that looks like it came straight from the showroom floor.
The whole job took about three hours, the mum said, but in that time she managed to clean a three-seater lounge and the two matching armchairs.
But the newly cleaned couch does have a ‘sticky feel’.
‘If it is still sticky tonight I will rub it down with a towel,’ she said.
The incredible before and after photos left other mums in the popular cleaning group gob-smacked.

HOW DID THIS MUM GET HER LEATHER LOUNGE SO CLEAN?
Ozito 240V Buffer Polisher ($49)
Glitz 168g Leather Conditioner ($9)
Glitz 500ml four-in-one Leather Cleaner ($12.50)
Step 1: Use the buffer to work the four-in-one cleaner into the dirty leather.
Step 2: Continue panel by panel until the cleaner has been buffed into each section.
Step 3: Work the conditioner into each section, using the buffer to work it into the leather. This helps to waterproof the leather, as well as conditioning it and making it glow like new.
Step 4: If the surface is tacky afterwards let it sit overnight before rubbing it with a towel.
‘Would love to know what you used,’ one said, leading the woman to share her secret.
The Glitz products have a great reputation for cleaning, and breathing new life into leather.
‘I used this on my leather bag that was looking very dry and it freshened it up perfectly. A little bit definitely goes a long way and you don’t need to press/rub too firmly,’ one woman said of the conditioner.
‘Great value product for cleaning old dirty leather. Leaves the leather soft, looking new again and also helps with dry skin hands,’ one woman said in a review of the four in one cleaner.
The Ozito buffer, which is just $49, also has a good reputation – for shining cars.
It is designed for polishing vehicles, boats and solid surfaces like marble and stainless steel.
