Shocking moment lorry driver ends up teetering on edge of 80ft flyover near Dartford to cause huge delays on M25 and A2

Shocking video captured the moment a lorry driver ploughed across all three lanes of a motorway before smashing through safety barriers in an incident that left the vehicle teeterring on the edge of an 80ft flyover.
Drivers faced huge delays on the M25 and A2 after the HGV collided with the side of the M25 at Junction 2, where the motorway passes over the A2 near Dartford in Kent, this afternoon.
Dramatic pictures showed part of the rear wheels of the lorry’s trailer sticking out over an 80ft drop onto the A2 – as well as tyre marks on the road.
Other images showed the bumper-to-bumper traffic stretching back six miles approaching the Dartford Crossing and causing delays of up to 90 minutes for weary commuters.
‘Significant damage’ has been caused to the road, Highways England said.

Emergency services were called to the scene and parts of the M25 and A2 were closed causing significant tailbacks.
Drivers were asked to allow extra time for their journeys if travelling in the area or to consider alternative routes.
Kent County Council Highways’ Twitter page confirmed the crash and shared pictures of the congestion.
The Tweet read: ‘M25 J3 – J2 Anti-Clockwise: Reports of an RTC on the Anti Clockwise M25 between J3 (M20 Swanley Interchange) and J2 (A2 Darenth Interchange).

‘Emergency services in attendance, expect long delays.’
Highways England confirmed that a ‘complex recovery and repair operation is required’ to move the truck to safety.
It added: ‘Delays are now up to 90 minutes on the anti-clockwise M25 between J4 and J2, 60 minutes on the M25 clockwise between J29 and J2, 45 minutes on the A2 eastbound and 30 mins westbound approaching Darenth Interchange.
‘Recovery of the lorry has commenced.’
Locals took to Twitter to warn others of the accident – and to urge people to avoid the area
