CHICAGO (August 1, 2025) – Hyatt Hotels Corporation, in partnership with Shenzhen Yuen Kai Hotel Management Co., Ltd., has announced the opening of Mumian Shanghai Expo. The property marks the debut of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Shanghai. Located on the waterfront in the Shanghai Expo area, the new hotel offers panoramic views of the Lujiazui skyline and blends classic Shanghai architectural elements with contemporary luxury to provide an authentic Haipai cultural experience.
Drawing inspiration from the concept of a “secret garden mansion,” the hotel’s design integrates Oriental aesthetics with the elegance of a traditional Shanghai residence. The property features 332 guestrooms, suites, and serviced residences, many with expansive views of the Huangpu River. The accommodations are designed with clean lines, warm textures, and abundant natural light, incorporating subtle nods to local culture to meet the needs of modern travelers.
The hotel’s dining and cultural venues blend culinary arts with creative design. Dining options include SUGAR PAVILION, an all-day venue featuring specialty coffee, artisanal desserts, and curated retail offerings, and Xiao Nan Yang Restaurant, which offers authentic Huaiyang and Shanghainese cuisine. The restaurant provides direct access to the 18,300-square-foot Zhuguang Rooftop Garden. The property also features the Zhuguang Art Gallery, which hosts rotating art exhibitions, and two versatile function spaces for meetings and events.
Situated in the heart of the Pudong Expo zone, the hotel offers a strategic location within walking distance of the China Art Museum, the Expo Center, and the Power Station of Art. It also provides convenient access to the Lujiazui Financial District and the Qiantan commercial hub. As an anchor of the Shibo Tiandi mixed-use development, the hotel is part of a vibrant neighborhood that includes premium offices, retail spaces, and cultural venues.
“Mumian Shanghai Expo beautifully blends Shanghai’s rich heritage with contemporary sophistication,” said Heidi Tang, the hotel’s General Manager. “We have crafted an urban sanctuary where every curated detail celebrates the storied art of living and look forward to welcoming global travelers to experience this unique interpretation of Shanghai’s spirit.”
To celebrate the opening, World of Hyatt members can earn 500 Bonus Points for qualifying nights at Mumian Shanghai Expo for stays completed by October 31, 2025.
