The first step is to get the prey to shudder. Help a constant and growing threat. Then let him go from terror to immobility. Then the jaws can close on her with ease.

This unequal fight goes like this, but it is not yet defined. They are only the first bars, in the sinister dance between a huge snake and a prey that is not satisfied with being gobbled up. Few Ukrainians are shaken, on the contrary, they are preparing to defend themselves, they know that they will hardly be able to count on forces other than their own and if anything they ask for arms and solidarity from their friends.

The Swedes and Finns, who do not belong to the Atlantic Alliance, want the doors to be kept open for their accession, precisely one of the Atlantic principles that the Kremlin scandalized denounces as a threat to its security. It’s the world upside down. Why did so many countries join NATO and why would Sweden and Finland want it if not to protect themselves from Russia? Not to attack it, as Putin maintains.

More information

Nothing unites like an outside threat. Once again, the Alliance has a clear mission before it: to defend each of its partners, their principles, national sovereignty and the right to join the alliance that suits each one. Also international order and legality as configured in the Helsinki Conference of 1975 (territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, renunciation of the use of force, human rights…), then in the Paris Charter of 1990 (multilateralism and institutions cooperation) and the Bucharest Memorandum (nuclear disarmament of Ukraine in exchange for the guarantee of its territorial integrity and full sovereignty). It is everything that Moscow already violated in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea and wants to violate again now.

Washington and Brussels, NATO and the European Union close ranks or, at least, want to appear so. The Kremlin seeks much more than a circumstantial division: it wants to settle a separate peace with the White House, erode the very existence of the Alliance and the Union and separate the Europeans from the Americans. It has powerful financial and business interests shared with the Europeans, energy dependence on Germany and a lobby of top-level politicians and businessmen, especially German and French, prepared to ignore their atrocities.

Vulnerability is a danger. The snake smells her and excites her evil instincts. It grows in its threats, wrapped in victim habits, stolen from the designated prey and used as a disguise for its only reason, that of force. Russia is threatened. It was deceived and betrayed at the end of the cold war. Any enlargement of NATO is an aggression. Each democratic revolt in the former imperial domains, a maneuver of the enemy and a violation of its sovereignty.

If the prey attends to these reasons, it will also give in to blackmail and close its eyes before being devoured.
