I found stickers for CHEAPER prices on Next products – and this is why

A TikTok video showing a person peeling off stickers on Next products to reveal that they were cheaper to begin with has divided the internet.

The 19-second clip – posted to the platform yesterday – captures an anonymous shopper taking off what they believe are ‘Christmas sale’ stickers from products in the British store.

A set of two pillowcases are priced at £10 in the video, until the sticker is removed to show the original cost of £8, while a King-sized duvet cover is now £40, instead of £35.

However, some followers were quick to comment on the footage and explain that they were not sale stickers – and instead were simply new prices, placed on top of old packaging.

One person wrote: ‘I work at Next, it’s not a sale price sticker, it’s price changes. Every so often we have to do price changes on items due to inflation etc. It’s generally current season stock or like basic items that are recurrent all year round.’

Another said: ‘Next employee here! Everything is getting more expensive so we have sticker sheets to put them at the correct price for the present time. Not sale.’

A third added: ‘I used to work for Next and this isn’t a new thing. Every so many months we got a price list and stickers and had to do this across the store.’

While a fourth insisted: ‘It’s only because it’s cheaper to use a sticker than to repack everything! Prices have gone up everywhere or haven’t you noticed?!’

However, some followers were quick to comment on the footage and explain that they were not sale stickers – and instead were simply new prices, placed on top of old packaging

‘Items like that, in those colours, don’t typically go in the sale anyway. This is just price increases. There will also be decreases,’ said another individual. 

Yet some were still shocked at the video, while others complained about the price increase.

One person said: ‘Used to work in Next and this definitely isn’t a new thing. They’ve put their prices up but the increase amount is ridiculous!’

The video was shared with the caption: ‘@nextofficial Christmas sale #bargainshopping.’
