Russell Westbrook is looking forward to playing alongside Anthony Davis. This is what he made known after his first official training session, after which he praised the pivot and made it clear that one of his objectives for this season will be to bring him to his best possible version.
“He is a unique player,” said the point guard. “There is no one who can do everything he does with his size. My job is to keep pushing him every day, in every training session and in every game so that he can give the best of himself every night ».
Davis comes, however, from a difficult season, in which injuries prevented him from having continuity and displaying his best face. La Ceja finished with the worst mark of his career in rebounds (7.9), blocks (1.3) and accuracy in field goals (49.1%), as well as the third worst in points (21.8), but Westbrook is confident that his performance will once again be well above that shown at 20-21.
“He has been in this league for a long time, so he knows exactly how to play and what to do. You know what it takes to turn on and now you want to. My goal will be to make him better every night.
Davis, for his part, was present when Russ said these words, and was satisfied with the attitude he showed: “I like that my teammates try to push me to the limit. I don’t need encouragement, I want to be pushed. I want colleagues who are not afraid to tell me that I have screwed up, and I already have several who are always commenting on me, so as a player I cannot ask for more. Russ and I have already had several conversations in first practice about things we can do when we’re on the track together.
