It was perhaps one of the most anticipated moments of Media Day. Andrew Wiggins, one of the players who has decided not to get vaccinated against the coronavirus (for now), attended the media knowing that they would ask him about such a situation. The Golden State forward had no problem answering, although he chose to always do so from a measured tone.
“I’m going to keep all of this private. Once again, everything to do with my status and vaccination, I will keep private. It is a personal matter, so I will keep it personal and private, “he says before admitting that the San Francisco regulations, which require him to get vaccinated to play at home with the Warriors and even train, is a big obstacle.
“My back is definitely against the wall. But I will continue to fight for what I believe in. And whether it’s one thing or the other, getting vaccinated or not getting vaccinated, who knows? I will continue to fight for what I believe and what I believe is correct. What is correct for one person is not correct for the other and vice versa, ”he says.
Being somewhat ambiguous about his determination up to this point – although we all know it – he was asked what he understood to be right or wrong about the vaccine, as well as his exact belief about it. Wiggins pointed out that he didn’t have to share it.
“It’s none of your business, it’s what it comes down to. I don’t ask them about their beliefs. I don’t ask them what they think is right or wrong. We are different people. It would be like being a father. Some people pass their beliefs on to their children. Some people let their children grow up and believe what they want to believe. Who are you so that I have to explain what I believe or what I think is right or wrong? “
There is little else to explain in this matter. Wiggins has pushed to the limit not to get vaccinated; so much so that he asked for a religious exemption that the NBA has denied. Now you know that the option not to be vaccinated will hurt your career. Will you stick to your beliefs or will you change course?
