The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) published the updates on the fees charged for the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) a gasoline, diesel, refreshments y cigaretteswhich will apply from 2023 and therefore, probably, the prices of these products will increase.
Through the publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the agency in charge of Rogelio Ramírez de la O announced the new fees that will be charged in accordance with what is dictated by the Federation fiscal Code (CFF), where it is stipulated that said amounts must be updated when the increase in inflation, from the last month that has been updated, exceeds 10 percent.
In this sense, only from January to November of this year, accumulated inflation is 6.78%, which is explained by the high levels that have occurred throughout the year due to supply pressures, as well as the invasion of Russia to Ukraine.
In the case of IEPS that is charged to fuels, the dependency updated the quota of the gasoline Magna – the most used in the country – from 5.4917 pesos per liter to an amount of 5.9195 pesos, which represents an increase of 7.8 percent.
In the case of the gasolina Premiumthe quota went from 4.6375 to 4.9887 pesos per liter for the following year, which gives an increase of 7.6 percent.
Meanwhile, the diesel will have an increase of 40.3% in the share of the IEPS that is charged, going from 4.6375 to 6.5055 pesos per liter.
On the other hand, the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit also updated the quotas of the IEPS a carved tobaccos y flavored drinkswhich is expected to have an impact on the prices of these products the following year.
In the case of cigarettes –which already in the last weeks of December have reported increases in their prices– the update of the share of the IEPS will increase by 7.8 percent.
Thus, while this year a fee of 0.5484 pesos was charged for cigarettein 2023 0.5911 pesos will be charged for each cigarette contained in the pack.
Los refreshmentsfor its part, the IEPS fee that will be paid the following year will be 1.5086 pesos per liter, against the 1.3996 pesos that were currently paid.
