If the AMLO government does not solve insecurity, it will not reduce poverty: Marcos Aguilar Vega

After warning about an increase in homicides, the national spokesperson for the National Executive Committee of the National Action Party (PAN), Marcos Aguilar Vega, stated that as long as the federal government fails to reduce insecurity and homicides, there can be no rule of law or job creation.

“The truth is that as long as it does not comply with this demand, it is evident that it will not be able to combat poverty, because there is no rule of law that applies in the face of impunity with which criminal groups operate, and with this there will be no certainty for investment, let alone jobs,” he said.

He added that as long as there are no security guarantees in the country, there are no possibilities of achieving well-being for families.

He said that during 2022 the climate of insecurity prevails that has been worsening with absurd strategies in the face of the onslaught of organized crime, but also in the midst of the polarization of the discourse that seeks to divide, instead of adding.

He argued that from December 1, 2018 to November 21, 2022, state and federal prosecutors have registered 139,510 intentional homicides in Mexico, according to the registry of intentional homicides of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of the Federal Government.

And when complementing with the figures of the National Public Security Systeman average of 34,500 people a year have been murdered.

When comparing intentional homicides during the same period of other federal administrations, he indicated that the current government leads the record of said crime, since with Enrique Pena Nieto there were 67,388 murders, while during the same government period of Felipe Calderon Hinojosa 45,417 intentional homicides were registered.

“On December 1, the President entered his last six-year term, and despite the many speeches, he continues to owe us security, which is simply everything,” he said.
