Boy George reportedly threatened to quit I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here this week as he clashed with producers of the ITV show.
The Culture Club star, 61, is said to have been unhappy with the fact that he couldn’t return to camp from a Bushtucker Trial in a golf buggy, as campmate Sue Cleaver was.
Citing that the soap star has special conditions meaning she can’t walk up the steep hill between the trial grounds and camp, a source told The Sun that the singer was made to walk up the hill rather than catch a ride – resulting in his flare-up.Â
Clash: I’m A Celeb’s Boy George, 61, reportedly threatened to QUIT the show in clash with ITV producers this week after being refused a ride to camp in a golf buggy
According to the publication, Boy George and the rest of the campmates had to walk back to camp from a Bushtucker trial – while Sue was taken by golf buggy due to a condition meaning she is unable to walk the steep hill.
But the singer allegedly wasn’t happy that he couldn’t get a lift, as the source continued that he stole an apple from a producer and hid in a nearby area so he couldn’t be filmed.
‘Boy George threw a massive strop and demanded to be driven in his own buggy – but ITV were having none of it as they said it would not be fair on the others,’ the source told the publication.

‘He then stormed into one of the production crew tents and pinched an apple, before hiding behind trees so that he couldn’t be filmed by any of the show’s cameras,’ they continued.
‘He was threatening to walk out of the show, and in that moment he probably would have done.’
Boy George allegedly calmed down and returned to camp after seeing the producers’ side.
MailOnline has contacted representatives for ITV for comment, while a representative for Boy George took to the star’s Instagram in response.

Describing him as a ‘complex and interesting’ person who wants to ‘challenge himself’, George’s representative wrote: ‘He’s prob hungry and bored and doesn’t like games or people pretending to be something they are not.’
‘If you want real honesty and watch emotional challenges handled by someone whose In recovery and works everyday to be a better person, then go on his journey with him,’ he added. ‘Who in that camp could possibly know what it’s like to be Boy George?’
Concluding the lengthy statement with: ‘It’s gonna be a bumpy ride and you may not see him play hide and seek, may see him get annoyed but he’s lovely and real and it’s riveting… TV reality doesn’t always present things how they are.’
And it certainly has been a bumpy ride for the star so far, who has butted heads with is fellow campmates since entering the villa.
I’m A Celeb 2022: ‘I find him slimy’: Matt Hancock, 44, and Boy George, 61, butted heads again during Friday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here1
Opinionated:Â Admitting that he had a problem with the former Health Secretary, Boy George apologised for talking behind his back – but stuck firm on his opinion
During Friday evening’s episode, he was locked in a tiff with Matt Hancock, describing the former Health Secretary as ‘slimy’.
The war of words came after the camp lost out on the opportunity to win chocolate during the day’s Deals On Wheels challenge – leaving Boy George unhappy as he later revealed he ‘didn’t like the way Matt looked at me’ during the chocolate ordeal.
Later chatting with comedian Seann Walsh at the creek, the Culture Club star said: ‘Can’t stand Matt. I have tried to like him and I’ve failed. I find him slimy, I find him slippery. I find him just… I made a joke about chocolate.Â
‘He just looked at me like… I wanted to say, “What are you looking at? Don’t you look at me like that.” I’ve tried to separate what I feel about him from who he is as a person, but I can’t,’ he continued.

Matt then joined the conversation, with Boy George telling him: ‘I was making a joke about the chocolate. For god’s sake I was like… let’s have a bit of fun. I didn’t like the way you looked at me. I made a joke and you were like…’Â
‘Oh no, I wasn’t… that wasn’t my intention,’ replied a taken aback Matt.
Despite Boy George admitting that he was ‘strugglign’ to seperate the Matt from his career and personality, the MP appeared unfazed by the conversation.
When Matt entered the jungle, Boy George also threatened to leave the show as he showed his distaste for the way that the MP had handled the Covid-19 pandemic.

Another moment in Saturday night’s episode was when George spoke to Seann about the campmates not being themselves in the jungle.
‘It’s hard to be totally yourself in this environment anyway, you know you’re with people you don’t know, you’re only getting a surface experience of who they are,’ he told the Bush Telegraph.
Speaking to Seann on the terrace, George added: ‘I’m lacking the stimulation I need, and I don’t mean that…
‘Because I think all these people would be more fun outside of here. Sue I think would be a scream outside here. Mike is much wilder outside here, I’ve heard stories. People aren’t being themselves. And I can see it.’Â
It comes after the hitmaker opened up about his road to success during Saturday evening’s episode of the show.Â
Back to busines:Â Boy George allegedly calmed down and returned to camp after seeing the producers’ side
Talking about his past employment, Boy George said: ‘Kicked out of school at 15, worked in a fruit factory for three weeks packing apples. Worked in Tesco filling the shelves.’Â
Boy George added: ‘I worked at a hat shop for about four years. That was my favourite job as I was allowed to dress up. Then I got fired for being late. I was late every day.
‘I had a boyfriend who was in a band, we split up and I thought I’m going to start a band just to annoy him. So that’s really how Culture Club started.’
Earlier in the series, George discussed how Culture Club got its name before saying he threatened to walk away from the band if Karma Chameleon was not included on their record.

The song was featured on the group’s 1983 album Colour by Numbers and it became their second single to reach the top of the charts after their 1982 hit Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.
Karma Chameleon remained at number one for six weeks and became the UK’s biggest-selling single of the year. It also spent three weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1984. Â
Speaking of his bandmates Roy Hay, Jon Moss and Mikey Craig, George said: ‘Karma Chameleon they hated. They hated it.

‘They were like, ‘It’s the final nail in our coffin, it’s rubbish’ and I had to fight to get it onto the record.
‘I had to say, ‘If you don’t put it on the record, I’m leaving the band.’ I did that every week though. I was the queen ‘stormer outer’.
‘Every time I didn’t get my way I was like, ‘I’m leaving!”
