The streets of Aguascalientes were dressed in joy, folklore and color with the traditional Spring Parade that year after year marks the main day of the San Marcos National Fair (FNSM), and that in its 195th edition was called “La Gigante de Mexico”.
Within the framework of San Marcos Day, patron saint of the April festival, Governor Tere Jiménez led this event that, today, is a symbol of identity, culture and tradition for the people of Aguascalientes.
From an early hour, thousands of spectators were located in the main streets of the city center, from where they enjoyed the passage of allegorical floats, comparsas, marching bands and mojigangas, in which more than 1,200 people participated, including dancers, entertainers and musicians. , which gave life to one of the most spectacular parades in the history of the FNSM.
With a circus show on the esplanade of Plaza Patria, the traditional event opened to make way for the allegorical floats, among which La Gigante de México stood out, which was an impressive six-meter puppet that made reference to the important role played by women in all spheres of society.
The one that represented the Chichimecas also stood out, alluding to the ancestors of Aguascalientes; that of the golden eagle, which is an iconic bird of the state; the Wine Route cart, which was presented as a recognition of agricultural work and the state’s wine heritage; as well as the railway, for being the industry that cemented the development of this entity.
The participation of Guanajuato as a guest state at the FNSM 2023, was a special distinction in this parade, since thanks to it, the spectators had the opportunity to learn a little more about the culture, traditions and customs of this entity that has many things. in common with Aguascalientes.
Throughout the parade, allegorical floats alluding to fraying, agro-industry and the strength of the giant, represented by elements of the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE); In the same way, reference was made to the appointment that the state received as American Capital of Culture 2023, as well as to the brava party.
As is tradition, the colorful parade closed with a flourish with the royal carriage, from where Queen Yoselín I and her princesses Ximena and Carolina shone in all their splendor and beauty, who wrapped in their majestic dresses greeted all the families that they witnessed the event.
