Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that imposing economic sanctions is a new form of hegemony, on the sidelines of a two-day visit to Russia, which he started yesterday, Wednesday, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
In a speech before the Russian parliament (Duma), Raisi added that cooperation between Russia and Iran will enhance security in the region.
He considered that Washington’s policies aim to weaken independent countries from within by destabilizing them.
Raisi indicated that his country is implementing all its commitments to the nuclear agreement, accusing Washington and Europe of violating their commitments.
Raisi had held a meeting yesterday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed regional and international files, including the Vienna negotiations.
strategic cooperation
Raisi is also discussing in Moscow the long-term strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries, as well as witnessing the signing of a number of joint cooperation agreements.
This is the third visit of the president outside the country since he took office in August, but it is the most important in terms of importance, and he is accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Oil.
The visit comes as Iran and major powers, including Russia, are holding talks to revive the agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program.
This is the first time since 2017, that an Iranian president has visited Russia, which has political, economic and military ties with Tehran.
