In limbo salary review at Audi; union loses votes to rectify agreement

The Independent Union of Workers of Audi from Mexico, he was not able to convince the workers to ratify the review agreement that he had agreed with the company of his collective contract, which not only talked about the annual review itself; but to change it for a multiannual.

According to the results, 4,002 workers had the right to cast their vote.

According to the register presented by the union organization, a total of 3,604 votes were cast; of which 39 were null, while 122 were in favor of the revision for 2023; Meanwhile, 1,118 agreed that the review should become multi-year, but 2,326 did not agree with either of the two options.

The vote took place on December 16, but given the results, it is expected that the next step will be the summons to strikesince the workers do not agree with the proposal of the union executive committee.

Labor specialists mention that the new rules of the labour reformThey demand that all agreements be put to a vote with the workers, in which they can lend themselves to showing the rejection that exists with their union leaders, and not necessarily with the agreement that was presented.

It should be noted that the proposals that were presented to the workers considered one of unique and immediate application for 2023, with a direct increase in salary of 8.4%, in addition to a salary adjustment of 2.6% for subsequent years, until 2026.

Although it was specified in the proposal that this increase, for the multi-year reviews depended on the behavior of inflation, the workers did not like it, so they voted against all the options presented by the union leader César Orta Briones.

This vote sets a precedent for the process that the union organization must follow in order to collective labor agreementsince also, as part of the legitimation process, it must be submitted to a vote by the entire base.

In the event that it is also voted against, it could be terminated and in any case a new union organization may arrive to demand ownership, or a new union may be created.
