5 weeks of continuous Israeli bombing of Gaza did not spare even hospitals, a severe shortage of fuel and food, and even water became unattainable.
On the ninth of last October, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced the imposition of a comprehensive siege on the Gaza Strip, saying, “No electricity, food, water, or fuel (will reach the Strip), according to what was reported by the Hebrew Channel 13.
Since that time, not even water stations have been spared from bombing. Nesma in the Tal Al-Zaatar area.
The past few days have witnessed more news and reports about the deteriorating conditions, regarding water and access to it, whether for drinking or other needs.
Resorting to the sea
According to Anatolia Agency, the severe water shortage inside the Gaza Strip, as a result of the ongoing Israeli war, has prompted Palestinians to resort to seawater as an alternative to ablution, bathing, and washing clothes.
All areas of the Gaza Strip are witnessing a water outage, due to Israel stopping a number of lines that supply the Strip with water. The only power plant in the Strip stopped working more than two weeks ago, due to the exhaustion of the fuel needed to operate it, causing the disruption of local wells and the pumping of water into the networks connecting homes.
The Ministry of Interior in Gaza had warned in several previous statements that the Strip was suffering from a severe crisis in the availability of drinking water, which had pushed residents to drink unsafe water, in light of the Israeli war on the Strip.
The population of Gaza, about 2.2 million Palestinians, suffer from extremely deteriorating living conditions as a result of an ongoing Israeli siege since the Hamas movement won the Palestinian legislative elections in 2006.
Hamas has called on the United Nations and international parties to put pressure on Israel to restore water supplies to the Gaza Strip, stressing that cutting off water is a crime against humanity that leads to genocide.
