In the march for the defense of the INE, PRD leader calls for opposition unity against electoral reform

By attending this Sunday the march in defense of the National Electoral Institute (INE), the national leader of the PRD, Jesús Zambrano Grijalva, called for the unity of opposition legislators to vote against the electoral reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador y Morena.

Accompanied in the march on Paseo de la Reforma by Jesús Ortega, Ángel Ávila, among other leaders of the PRDZambrano Grijalva called on the opposition not to allow the “harmful and regressive” electoral reform to pass.

On the part of the PRD there should be no doubt that it is against it, but above all we call on the PRI, so that they are not going to fall into the temptation of reaching compromises with Morena so that the electoral reform that is harmful and regressive for the country passes,” he said. Zambrano.

The PRD member said he was confident that the PRI “complies with what it has been saying in recent days that they are not going to go with any reform promoted by López Obrador.”

Likewise, he called for unity, “today there was an impressive response from civil society and the opposition parties, we all need each other and united. We are risking the life of the country and democracy, ”he stressed.

Regarding the massive participation that marched from the Ángel de la Independencia to the Monument to the Revolution in defense of the INEassured that “we went out to show that they are not going to throw us back that we love democracy and freedoms, we are not going to allow them to be taken from us, we do not want them to lead us to a dictatorship.”

The PRD leader described as a “trap” the declaration of environmental contingency made by the authorities of Mexico City, and celebrated that despite this, “citizens bravely took to the streets because we know that we are risking the lives of Mexico and the future of our children”.

He asserted that with this mobilization began the defeat of the government and of Morena for 2024, because “the people are clearly giving the signal that they do not want a dictatorship, that they want freedom and want democracy, that is what it is about today, defending Mexico and the future generations that come after us.”
