Inai warns deputies of the need to increase the budget for cybersecurity

The Henna pointed out that the hacking of the emails of the Sedena by the Guacamaya group has shown the vulnerability of the country’s information systems, for which he called on the Chamber of Deputies to support his proposal to increase 30 million pesos to next year’s budget that will be allocated to the cyber security from high school.

Participating in a dialogue table with the Budget and Public Account Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, in view of the discussion and approval of the Federation Expenditure Budget (PEF) 2023, the commissioner of the institute, Josefina Román Vergara, reported that by 2023, the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (Inai) requested a bag of 104 million pesos for the cybersecurity item.

The foregoing means an increase of 30 million pesos in relation to what was approved in 2022, when they requested 74 million pesos.

As stated by the commissioner, the increase for the new security is due to the purchase lease of a perimeter security system, as well as the lease of 400 telephones, and computers, in addition to the services provided on the platform and the rent of cloud services.
