Indispensable, exalt the benefits of mining: Robles Osollo

Mexico is a mining country, but within it they have forgotten to exalt the benefits that mining offers for development and also motivate this industry to continue with its social support policies, stated Andrés Robles Osollo, vice president of government relations. and associations of the Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico (AIMMGM),

By participating in the First Voices of Responsible Mining Forum, Andrés Robles Osollo directed his message to new generations that are getting involved in the mining-metallurgical sector, whom he invited to disseminate the benefits that this industry grants to society, because “Mexico is a mining country, but unfortunately we Mexicans do not recognize it or do not know it,” he said.

We recognize ourselves as an oil country, as a car manufacturer country; We are soccer fans, but unfortunately we don’t know what gave rise to us as a country: mining”, he pointed out.

Robles Osollo said that mining has boosted large cities like Taxco, Guerrero, and was a key factor for the development, settlement and growth of other communities.

The manager recalled that Mexico is one of the main metal producers. The country is the world leader in silver production and is among the top 10 sites in gold, copper, lead and zinc production, which demonstrates the mining nature of the country.

However, said Robles Osollo, informal mining tarnishes the image of formal mining that promotes positive and modern values; that contributes to the care and preservation of the environment and that promotes community relations of respect and collaboration.

Andrés Robles Osollo announced that the Acapulco 2023 International Mining Convention, which will be held in the port of Acapulco.

The Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico is a non-profit organization, founded in 1951 and made up of around 3,000 associates distributed in more than thirty districts.
