Indonesian Navy spokesman Eddie Tartias announced that the ill-fated plane had completely crashed into the waters of the Java Sea, and that remains and parts of debris were found and recovered.
A spokesman for the naval forces that participate in the search operations said today, Sunday, that rescue teams were able to find a lot of debris in the sea, indicating that the plane had been completely destroyed.
And local media reported that several bags containing body parts were delivered to the passengers who were on board, in addition to that, rescuers found parts of the plane’s wreckage, electrical wires, remnants of seats, and children’s clothes.
The “Boeing 737-500” Indonesian plane belonging to “Sriwijaya Air” company crashed yesterday, Saturday, near the island of Laki in the Java Sea, after taking off from Jakarta airport on a flight to Pontianak city in the Kalimantan province west of the country.
The plane was carrying at least 65 people, including 53 passengers and a crew of 12.
