Making an appointment at the INE is essential to have your nationally recognized identification and to be able to go to the polls to cast your vote.
It is necessary to remember that the person in charge of organizing the elections at the federal level, as well as coordinating with the local electoral bodies for the organization of the elections in the states, is the National Electoral Institute (OTHER).
This autonomous body is also the one that issues the Voting card with photography, used by millions of Mexicans to identify themselves and exercise their right to vote.
How to make an appointment at INE?
Once we clarify some of the powers that the Mexican electoral institute has, we will tell you how to process an appointment at the INE and thus go to your nearest module.

As a second step you will have to select your federal entity, the mayor’s office or municipality (if you cannot find it, select the one closest to your community), the module you want to visit and finally the day and time of your visit.
Once you have filled out the above, you will have 5 minutes to choose the procedure at the INE that you want to do.
Also in this third step you will have to select your nationality documents, ID with photo and proof of address that you will present at your appointment at the INE.
For the fourth step you are going to fill in the boxes with your personal information, such as full name, telephone and email.
How do I cancel an appointment at the INE?
Unforeseen events are never lacking and if you already had your quote INE, but unfortunately you will not be able to attend, do not worry, there is a possibility that you will change the day or cancel.
To do the latter you will have to have the appointment key at hand, it was given to you when you generated your INE appointment and your email.
Once inside the window where you made your appointment there is a tab called query, in it you will fill in the information requested and you will click on the “cancel appointment” button.
What procedures are carried out at the INE?
In the modules of the electoral institute, people with an INE appointment will be able to carry out various procedures such as registration for the first time in the Electoral Register.
In addition to this one, another procedure at the INE that you can carry out is the correction of personal or home data, change of address, replacement due to theft or loss, reincorporation, replacement of the credential due to validity and finally, death notice.
What is needed to obtain the voter credential?
As we mentioned in one of the steps to generate your appointment at the INE, you will need three documents to obtain or carry out any procedure. Remember, they have to be original, without erasures or amendments.
1. Nationality document
- Birth certificate.
- Naturalization letter.
2. Photo ID
- Passport
- Professional license.
- Driver’s license.
- National Military Service Card.
- Public service credential.
- Public or private school documents with a maximum of 10 years of being issued.
- Credentials of rights holders.
- Work identification credentials.
3. Proof of address
- Receipts for payment of taxes and/or services.
- Account statements.
- Recent lease.
- Certified copy of deeds.
How to do a data validation in the INE record?
The INE has reiterated that the Digital Certificate is only valid as identification if the data it contains is verified.
The validation process is by reading the QR codes through an application provided by the Electoral Institute.
“If you are an institution, company or individual and you need to verify the authenticity of the evidence you present as identification, you can download the application completely free to do so,” he mentions.
Once downloaded, scan the codes with the device camera, as a third pass, the data and photograph on the screen will have to be compared with those of the credential and the person who presents it.
