Inflation and the war in Ukraine, issues that Mexico will address at the G20 summit: Ebrard

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, food security and inflation will be the issues that Mexico will address at the next Summit of the Group of 20 (G20).

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, who will represent the Mexican government at the summit to be held in BaliIndonesia, on November 15 and 16, recognized that the discussion of the issues will not be easy, however, “dialogue is important.”

“The first issue we have in the G20 is of course the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the second issue of concern: inflation in the world,” he told the media after participating in the opening of the International Forum “Security for Progress : international best practices in public security”.

He warned that all financial institutions are raising interest rates, which can create a economic slowdowntherefore how to stabilize or reduce inflation and recover economic growth is another concern in the G20.

The foreign minister recalled that the problem of food security stems from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict because there are many countries that depend on Russia y Ukraine in grains and also in fertilizers.

“We will try to address these issues, of course it will not be easy, we have been working for many weeks before, but the fact of meeting, discussing face to face, is always good, it is positive, and we will be there, Mexico has been participating all the time and I will do it now in the plenary session”, he concluded.
