Colombia recorded a inflation of 1.02% in August, almost double that expected by the market, due to a general increase in all prices in the economy amid robust domestic consumption, the National Department of Statistics (DANE) revealed on Monday.
The monthly indicator is the highest since last April and was well above the 0.58% expected by the market, according to the median of a Reuters poll.
In August of last year, inflation was 0.45 percent.
Between January and August, inflation reached 9.06%, from 3.93% in the same period of 2021.
In the accumulated of the last 12 months, inflation reached 10.84%, its highest level since April 1999, higher than 4.44% in the same period last year and exceeded the Central Bank’s goal of 3 percent.
