At the cut of the first fortnight of September 2022, the interest rate inflation interannual for families that earn up to one minimum wage was 9.86%, while for those that earn more than six minimum wages it was 8.25%, according to figures from the inegi.
These figures show how inflation is more pronounced for the poorest families in the country.
This is explained by the distribution of their spending; lower-income households spend more on food than richer households, as a proportion of their income.
As food is one of the groups with the most pronounced levels of inflation, it is the poorest families who feel this impact most strongly.
